Seattle 78, Phoenix 71: The Storm made life difficult for the Mercury inside the paint. Seattle controlled the glass and were led by Camille Little’s 18 points and 9 rebounds. Seattle never let the Mercury get into a rhythm offensively, despite Taurasi’s 31 points and 4/5 from the 3-point line.

Connecticut 89, Washington 73: The Sun lit up the scoreboard shooting 57% from the field and 50% from the 3-point line. Asjha Jones looked good after taking a winter season off. 1st round draft pick from a year ago Danielle McCray chipped in with 14 points. The Mystics were also without Alana Beard.

Indiana 65, Chicago 57: The Fever’s defense frustrated Chicago all night as Indiana finally pulled away in the end for the victory. Indiana showed why defense is their trademark. Prince and Douglas led the Sky and Fever in scoring respectively.

San Antonio 93, Tulsa 73: The Silver Stars forced 28 turnovers, as their pressure defense sparked their offense all game. San Antonio shot a lofty 55% from the field en route to a blowout victory. One take away for Tulsa is center Liz Cambage finished with a double-double in her WNBA debut.



New York 94, Atlanta 88 (OT): Despite playing without Angel McCoughtry, and their slow start, the Dream looked like they would get out of their home opener with a win until Nicole Powell hit a tough 3-pointer to tie the game late. The Liberty would eventually pull ahead in overtime, as Cappie Pondexter ran the show all the game, playing 42 minutes and dishing out 11 assists.

Minnesota 86, Los Angeles 69: The Sparks and Lynx faced each other for the 2nd time in less than 48 hours. This time the Lynx prevailed behind Augustus’ 17 points. With excellent shot selection and 16 points from Maya Moore as well, the Lynx settled their seasoning opening loss pulling away in 3rd quarter.
